Jaume Plensa, Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA)
Jaume Plensa (Barcelona, 1955) is an internationally acclaimed artist of objects, feelings and ideas. His work encompasses literature (poetry especially), music, religion and philosophy. Although his creativity has taken many shapes and forms, he considers himself to be a sculptor above all else.
This exhibition featured a range of artwork that highlights the artist's oeuvre from the 1980s to the present day, taking visitors on a conversational journey summoned between his depictions of the human figure and his more abstract pieces. Plensa's body of work invokes the very condition of being human: our physical and spiritual essence, our self-awareness and memories, our moral codes and dogmas, and our relationship with nature.
